Enbridge Inc. has reported solid financial results for the third quarter of 2026, supported by stronger natural gas operations and the completion of major energy infrastructure projects valued at more than $3 billion. The Canadian energy company also reaffirmed its full year financial guidance, signaling confidence in its business performance despite changing market conditions and continued investment requirements across North America’s energy sector. Announced on November 6, 2026, the results highlight Enbridge’s ongoing efforts to expand natural gas transportation capacity, strengthen its pipeline network and maintain reliable energy services for customers.

The latest announcement offers an important look at how established energy infrastructure companies are responding to rising demand for dependable natural gas supplies. With two major transmission projects entering service during the quarter and a substantial portfolio of future developments underway, Enbridge is positioning its business to support growing energy consumption across Canada and the United States.

Enbridge Reports Higher Earnings in the Third Quarter

Enbridge recorded earnings attributable to common shareholders of C$1.3 billion during the third quarter of 2026, compared with C$682 million in the same period of 2025. Earnings per common share increased to C$0.59 from C$0.30 a year earlier. The improvement reflects a combination of operating performance and changes in the value of financial instruments used to manage currency, interest rate and commodity price risks.

Looking beyond reported earnings, the company’s adjusted financial measures also showed improvement. Adjusted earnings reached C$1.074 billion, compared with C$997 million in the third quarter of 2025. Adjusted earnings per common share increased to C$0.49 from C$0.46.

Adjusted earnings before interest, income taxes, depreciation and amortization, commonly known as adjusted EBITDA, reached C$4.434 billion, compared with C$4.267 billion during the corresponding period last year. This increase reflects stronger contributions from several natural gas businesses, including higher revenues associated with transmission rate settlements and improved customer rates in certain regulated markets.

Cash provided by operating activities totaled C$2.7 billion, compared with C$2.9 billion in the third quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, distributable cash flow increased to approximately C$2.7 billion from C$2.6 billion. These figures provide additional insight into the company’s ability to generate cash from its operations while supporting capital investment, debt obligations and shareholder distributions.

More Than $3 Billion in Gas Transmission Projects Enter Service

One of the most significant developments in Enbridge’s quarterly update was the completion and commissioning of more than C$3 billion in major infrastructure projects. Two important natural gas transmission developments entered service during the quarter: the Aspen Point expansion of the Westcoast Pipeline system in British Columbia and the Tennessee Ridgeline project associated with the East Tennessee Natural Gas Pipeline.

Aspen Point Expansion Strengthens British Columbia Infrastructure

The Aspen Point expansion represents an important investment in the capacity and performance of Enbridge’s Westcoast Pipeline system. The project supports the transportation of natural gas through British Columbia, connecting production areas with customers and broader energy markets.

Expanding pipeline capacity is particularly relevant as natural gas demand continues to develop across North America. Additional transportation infrastructure can help producers move supplies more efficiently while supporting utilities, industrial facilities and other customers that depend on consistent deliveries.

Enbridge also secured financial support for its broader Westcoast expansion program through an investment agreement involving KKR and Apollo. The investors contributed approximately C$700 million at closing and committed an additional C$2 billion toward future capital expenditures associated with the Aspen Point and Sunrise expansion programs.

Under the arrangement, KKR and Apollo will gradually increase their minority ownership interest in the overall Westcoast system as capital contributions are made. Their combined interest is expected to reach 29 percent when the Sunrise expansion enters service in 2028. Enbridge will retain majority ownership and continue operating the system.

Tennessee Ridgeline Adds Natural Gas Transportation Capacity

The Tennessee Ridgeline project also entered service during the third quarter, adding another important development to Enbridge’s United States gas transmission network. The project is associated with the East Tennessee Natural Gas Pipeline and supports the company’s ability to serve customers across its operating markets.

Natural gas transmission systems play a central role in connecting production regions with distribution networks, power generators and industrial users. By bringing additional pipeline infrastructure into operation, Enbridge can expand its transportation capabilities and generate revenue from completed investments.

The two projects demonstrate how infrastructure development can contribute to financial performance beyond the construction period. Once operational, pipeline assets can support contracted transportation services and provide long term cash flow opportunities, subject to applicable commercial arrangements and regulatory requirements.

Natural Gas Businesses Drive Much of the Quarterly Improvement

Enbridge’s third quarter performance reflects the growing contribution of its natural gas operations. Its Gas Transmission segment generated adjusted EBITDA of approximately C$1.427 billion, compared with C$1.262 billion in the same quarter of 2025.

Higher revenues from the East Tennessee rate settlement and previously approved rate increases at Texas Eastern contributed to the improvement. Favorable contracting activity and increased allowances for equity funds used during construction also supported results.

The Gas Distribution and Storage business reported adjusted EBITDA of C$665 million, up from C$560 million a year earlier. Improved rates and customer growth at Enbridge Gas Ontario, together with higher rates at Enbridge Gas Utah and Enbridge Gas North Carolina, helped strengthen the segment.

These results illustrate the importance of having several sources of natural gas related revenue. Transmission operations move energy across long distances, while distribution businesses deliver supplies to homes, commercial properties and industrial customers. Storage assets provide another important service by helping manage seasonal changes in demand.

For households, businesses and power generators, reliable natural gas infrastructure can make a meaningful difference, particularly during periods of increased consumption. Enbridge’s latest results suggest that its established pipeline and utility networks continue to provide a significant foundation for its overall financial performance.

Liquids Pipelines Face Different Market Conditions

Although natural gas operations delivered stronger results, Enbridge’s liquids pipeline business experienced some pressure during the quarter. Adjusted EBITDA from Liquids Pipelines declined to C$2.206 billion from C$2.307 billion in the third quarter of 2025.

Lower volumes on parts of the Mainline system and reduced contributions from certain Market Access arrangements contributed to the decline. Some contracts involving transportation toward the United States Gulf Coast were underutilized, while lower tolls on Line 9 deliveries also affected performance.

The difference between the company’s liquids and natural gas businesses highlights the value of operating a diversified energy infrastructure portfolio. Market conditions do not affect every segment in the same way. While transportation demand and contracting arrangements can create challenges for oil pipeline operations, regulated utility rates and natural gas transmission agreements can provide different sources of revenue stability.

Enbridge is also pursuing additional opportunities in its liquids business. The company announced an agreement to acquire Tallgrass Energy’s crude oil business for approximately US$2.6 billion. The proposed transaction is intended to expand its presence in the Rockies and establish stronger connections toward Cushing, Oklahoma.

Separately, Enbridge announced and completed the approximately US$600 million acquisition of Salt Creek Midstream’s crude oil gathering business. The transaction is expected to strengthen its position in the Permian Basin by connecting oil production with transportation and export infrastructure.

Company Reaffirms Its 2026 Financial Guidance

Despite differences in performance across its business segments, Enbridge maintained its financial outlook for the full year. The company continues to expect adjusted EBITDA between C$20.2 billion and C$20.8 billion for 2026.

Its distributable cash flow guidance remains between C$5.70 and C$6.10 per share. Enbridge also reaffirmed its medium term outlook, which anticipates average annual compound growth of approximately 5 percent in adjusted EBITDA, distributable cash flow per share and earnings per share.

Maintaining this guidance after reporting third quarter results provides investors with an indication that management remains confident in its operating assumptions and financial plans. However, these projections are expectations rather than guaranteed outcomes. Energy prices, interest rates, currency movements, regulatory decisions, construction costs and customer demand can all influence actual results.

The company also reported a secured growth project backlog of approximately C$38 billion. This represents a substantial collection of projects supported by commercial arrangements and other commitments, providing visibility into potential future investment and infrastructure development.

New Infrastructure Projects Expand Enbridge’s Growth Pipeline

Beyond the projects already placed into service, Enbridge continues to develop additional opportunities across its natural gas and liquids businesses.

One newly sanctioned development is the Long Lake Expansion project in Alberta, estimated to cost approximately C$200 million. The project will involve a new lateral pipeline, additional storage infrastructure and capacity improvements to existing pipeline systems. It is designed to support growing production at CNOOC Petroleum North America’s Long Lake oil sands operation, with service expected to begin in 2028.

In British Columbia, the larger Sunrise expansion remains a major part of the company’s future natural gas infrastructure plans. The approximately C$4 billion project is expected to increase the capacity of the Westcoast Pipeline system and support growing demand for natural gas transportation.

Enbridge is also advancing natural gas storage expansion projects along the United States Gulf Coast and in British Columbia. Together, these developments represent a broader effort to improve the availability, transportation and storage of natural gas across important regional markets.

The company’s secured growth program reflects an investment strategy focused on projects that can serve identifiable customer requirements. Rather than relying entirely on expectations of future energy consumption, long term commercial agreements can provide a stronger foundation for infrastructure investment and project financing.

Natural Gas Demand Creates Opportunities Across North America

Enbridge’s latest business update points to several factors supporting demand for natural gas infrastructure. Electricity consumption is increasing in various markets, while data centers, artificial intelligence infrastructure, advanced manufacturing and industrial development are creating additional requirements for depend
